Buying a vehicle? Get a comprehensive report to save you time and money

The Inspection

Buying a vehicle can feel like a gamble when you are relying on photos, a quick test drive, or the seller’s word. A pre-purchase inspection gives you a clear, professional assessment before you commit.

I inspect the vehicle carefully for signs of poor repairs, accident damage, fluid leaks, worn brakes and tyres, suspension or steering issues, warning lights, and general condition. I also carry out a diagnostic scan where applicable and road test the vehicle when possible.

The goal is simple: to help you understand what you are buying, what may need attention soon, and whether the vehicle is worth the asking price.

The Report

After the inspection, you will receive a clear electronic report with photos and notes on the vehicle’s condition.

The report is designed to help you make a confident decision. It highlights key findings, points out areas that may need repair or further investigation, and gives you a realistic picture of the vehicle beyond the seller’s description.

Whether the car is a great buy, needs negotiation, or is best avoided, you will have something practical and easy to refer back to before you spend your hard earned money.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in a pre-purchase inspection?
A pre-purchase inspection includes a visual and practical check of the vehicle’s overall condition, including items such as the engine bay, fluids, brakes, tyres, suspension, steering, body condition, interior condition, warning lights, and fault codes where applicable.

How much does it cost?
$249 including GST. This covers all travel costs, inspection, report, and organising the inspection between the seller and potential buyer. A GST invoice is available for businesses.

Do you provide a written report?
Yes. You will receive a detailed electronic report with photos and notes so you can clearly understand the vehicle’s condition.

Can you inspect vehicles from private sellers and dealerships?
Yes. I can inspect vehicles at private addresses, dealerships, and other suitable locations.

Will you tell me if the car is worth buying?
I will give you a clear, honest assessment of the vehicle’s condition and any concerns found, so you can make a more informed decision.

Can you inspect the vehicle if I am not there?
Yes. In many cases I can inspect the vehicle on your behalf and send the report through afterward.

Does the inspection guarantee the vehicle will never have problems?
No. A pre-purchase inspection reduces risk and helps identify visible or detectable issues at the time of inspection, but it cannot guarantee against future faults.

Important Information:
  • Pre-purchase inspections are non-invasive visual inspections carried out with the vehicle as presented at the time. Panels, covers, and components are not dismantled unless agreed in advance.
  • A road test and diagnostic scan are carried out where possible, but this can depend on vehicle access, seller permission, battery condition, warning lights present, and safe testing conditions.
  • The inspection is designed to reduce risk and highlight obvious or detectable concerns, but it is not a guarantee against future mechanical failure or hidden defects.
  • If serious issues are found, I will let you know clearly so you can decide whether to negotiate, investigate further, or walk away.
